The first time I rented an apartment through a real estate agent, there were twists and turns
After returning to York, the housekeeper suddenly informed that the water heater of the house I rented was broken, so she suggested that I change to the same apartment on the same floor on the opposite door to the suite that she also showed me. I told her that I didn’t like it. However, she said that there is no other way at the moment. As a last resort, I have to accept her arrangement and move into the suite I did not choose. Although the rent of this replacement suite is the same as the one I signed, the space and space of the two suites are the same. The decor is very different, and I feel bad about not being able to stay in the suite I chose.
Wicked housekeeper, wicked whole tenant
Although I have moved into a replacement suite, based on Fang Zhong's repeated attitude before signing the contract, I wonder if she deliberately spoofed me from living in the suite of my own choice. Fortunately, the next morning I met the landlord of the opposite suite who came to repair the water heater. After understanding, it was indeed because the water heater was broken that I couldn't live in. After some negotiations, I finally moved into my dream suite. However, at the expiration of the lease term, the landlord and I who came to retrieve the keys had a conversation before waiting for the house agent, and finally revealed all the heinous house agent's evil deeds.
First of all, I clarified that the landlord did not know how much rent I paid to the real estate agent, that is, the landlord only gave the real estate agent the rental price, but the real estate agent bid all the rented houses separately to obtain the maximum profit. Therefore, the landlord was completely unaware of the temporary increase of 10 pounds by the house agent before signing the contract. It turned out that the house agent wanted to ask me for an extra 10 pounds, but before meeting with the house agent, I had already clarified that the tenant did not need to pay. To the Fang Zhong, the Fang Zhong wanted to blackmail. Although I felt that the increase of £10 was not much at the time of the incident, I think it should not make people think that foreigners can be demanded, so I would rather not sign a contract than give in. Moreover, the Fang Zhong also told me to take out the rubbish when I checked out, but the landlord told me that he should clean the rubbish.
Later, I complained to the landlord about all kinds of evils of the house agent. The landlord felt very embarrassed and wanted to refund the rent to me. I told the landlord that I like his house very much and I live very happily, but I just want to pay a commission to the house agent. He knows the whole process. After the landlord came, the landlord confirmed that there was no problem in the inspection of the housing condition, but the landlord was still unwilling to return the deposit. He repeatedly asked the landlord to confirm that the house was not damaged? Obviously, he wanted to hate the whole tenant and return the deposit to me. After that, the landlord had already left, and the landlord was worried that I would renew the rent privately with the landlord, so I waited until my taxi arrived. No wonder the landlord told me that the landlord told him that a potential guest would like to rent the suite, but she didn't know that I had left contact information with the landlord. If I go to York again in the future, she must rent the apartment directly from him. Although not all the real estate agents I met in York were so despicable, this experience prompted me to write this article to share my experience with friends who want to rent a house in a foreign country.
